Fukushima Renewable Energy Industry Fair
(REIF Fukushima)

The Fukushima Renewable Energy Industrial Fair (aka: REIF Fukushima) is an exhibition designed to bring the latest technologies and products associated with renewable energy together in one location. The exhibition is growing each year, and has grown to become the largest event representing the prefecture.

MEDICA/COMPAMED

Fukushima prefecture has presented a booth at MEDICA/COMPAMED (Dusseldorf, Germany), the world's largest medical equipment-related trade show, to present the outstanding technical capabilities of Fukushima's companies, supporting their business activities.

This event has been held since 2005, and companies from a wide range of countries, such as Germany and Thailand as well as Japan, attend the exhibition. It is a symbol of "Medical Equipment Fukushima," and is gaining notoriety worldwide.

World Robot Summit 2020 Fukushima will be the host!
(International robot competition)

Part of the competition in the Disaster Robotics Category of the World Robot Summit was held at the Fukushima Robot Test Field in October 2021. The summit is an international robot competition sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

Robot Festa Fukushima

This event is held to exhibit and demonstrate advanced robots and various types of robots being developed in the prefecture to provide a venue for business discussions and technology exchange with industries in the prefecture, as well as to raise interest through different events among prefectural residents, particularly among young people.

Aerospace Festa Fukushima

The aim is to promote the advanced technological capabilities of companies in the prefecture and expand trade, and to get children who will lead the next generation to become interested in aerospace-related industries through aerospace exhibits, lectures, and hands-on events, in addition to fostering human resources who rise to challenges in aerospace-related industries and restoration and revitalization in Fukushima.

Fukushima Prefecture Transport Equipment Related Industry Cooperative Association
(Number of members: 373 companies, organizations as of March 1, 2022)

In collaboration with the Tohoku Automotive Industry Concentration Cooperative Association, Transport Equipment-Related Industry Association is working to build up an industrial cluster through a variety of activities such as exhibiting displays at technical expositions and conventions in the Tokyo and Nagoya areas, holding seminars, and creating guidebooks that introduce the operational contents and products of member companies.

Fukushima Prefecture Aerospace Industry Technology Society (Number of members: 65 companies, organizations as of March 2022)

Provision of information relating to the aerospace-related industry, information-sharing between related organizations and member companies, organizing of lectures by experts in the field, training using non-destructive inspection devices and 5-axis processing machines are arranged, helping companies in Fukushima to expand business as well as enter the industry in order to activate the aerospace-related industry.

Fukushima Renewable Energy Industry Promotion Society

The society aims to share business information regarding training and clusters in renewable energy related industries. This features special interest groups for each of solar power, wind power, biomass, and energy networks and hydrogen, which hold dedicated seminars, and put out relevant information.

Fukushima Medical and Welfare Device Industry Council

With the aim that people in robotics field in the national government, related agencies, and universities enhance technology basement and form a network, the council organizes review meetings regarding drone, medical/life support robots, parts development or software. Also, the reactor decommissioning/disaster response robot society organizes seminars and promotes mutual communication and business expansion.

Fukushima Robot Industry Promotion Council(376 member companies)

With regard to robots and drones, which are expected to play an active role in various fields such as decommissioning and decontamination, disaster response, infrastructure inspection, logistics, medical care and nursing care, and agriculture, we promote the entry of robots and drones into these fields, and are making various efforts to stimulate mutual exchange among members, promote practical development by groups, and expand business.

Fukushima Technology Centre <Koriyama City>

Fukushima Technology Center is a public testing and research institute that supports R&D by companies in the prefecture with a full range of testing equipment and facilities that are open to companies. It is actively engaged in joint research with companies, new technology and new product development, and the transfer of technology for various research outcomes to companies. Together with various technology support centers in Aizuwakamatsu and Minamisoma, it plays the role of a base for exchanges between industry, academia, and the government.

Business Support System through Collaboration among Industry, Academia, and Government

Cooperation agreements with advanced areas overseas

Fukushima Prefecture is conducting business exchanges with the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in the fields of renewable energy and medical devices. Since the memorandum of cooperation enhancement in those fields were concluded in 2014, the exchange has been advanced through mutual participation in exhibitions at each region and concluding agency contract with companies in the prefecture. Also, in October 2015 with TÜV Rheinland, one of the largest third-party certifies in Europe, in the field of medical device, and in October 2019 with Hamburg, Germany and Basque Country, Spain in the field of renewable energy, Fukushima Prefecture has concluded a memorandum to enhance cooperation.

Exhibition at E-world energy & water

Enterprises within Fukushima and the prefectural government have cooperated in exhibiting at E-world energy & water, Europe's largest energy-related international trade fair held in Germany. This provides assistance in cultivating markets overseas for technologies and products originating from companies within the prefecture, and covers the field of renewable energy.

Fukushima Prefecture has prepared a complete support system covering everything from business set up consultation through to operations. Through close collaboration with related organizations, we provide a one-stop service to help relocating companies cope with each procedure when they establish their business in Fukushima, and we also attempt to attract businesses by offering post-business establishment follow-up support. We conduct information exchanges with corporations on a regular basis in partnership with Development Bureaus in seven regions, and provide multifaceted support including with business transaction expansions, and with the securing and cultivation of human resources.
