FUKUSHIMA INDUSTRIAL LOCATION GUIDE

Concentration of renewable energy/hydrogen-related industries

Concentration of renewable energy/hydrogen-related industries

The "Fukushima Renewable Energy Promotion Vision" has set a target of "having 100% of Fukushima's demand for energy being met with renewable energy by around 2040." For this, the project aims to expand the introduction of renewable energy, as well as to accelerate the accumulation of related industries, thus becoming a "leading region" for renewable energy.

Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, National Institute of Advanced
Industrial Science and Technology (Koriyama City)

Together with multiple companies, this institute actively develops new technologies to maximize the adoption of renewable energy, and works in cooperation with universities in joint research in order to train human resources. The institute opened a world-class facility for both testing and evaluation, as well as R&D for advanced power electronics products, and by aiming for rapid international standardization of the research results, support international certification of products.

Support from EnergyAgency.Fukushima

The organization was established in April 2017 as a core organization to carry out coordination professionally and primarily dedicated to renewable energy field. The organization is promoting nurturing and accumulation of industries related to renewable energy, through developing new technology, creating business model, networking and matching among corporations, and supporting the cultivation and accumulation of sales channels and overseas collaboration to support creating new business projects comprehensively.

Business contents

(1) Networking between companies

Through operating the Renewable energy society with 880 member companies, the organization establishes networks between companies, share information at group meetings (solar power, wind power, biomass, energy networks and hydrogen) and holding seminars, and promotes newly entering in the field of renewable energy.

(2) Creation of business projects

By utilizing research results or networks between universities and companies effectively as well as focused coordination, the organization promotes creation of commercialization projects participated by companies in the prefecture.

(3) Market development support

Through holding the "REIF Fukushima (Fukushima Renewable Energy Industry Fair)" or support exhibiting at a renewable energy related exhibition, the organization promotes market development of companies in the prefecture in renewable energy field.

(4) Promotion of overseas collaboration

Through coordination with overseas companies including NRW and Hamburg Land in Germany, Denmark, and Basque Country in Spain, the organization promote overseas expansion of companies in the prefecture, and expansion of foreign businesses in the prefecture.
