ICT industry

In Aizu district, ICT industry clusters has started in full-scale. "Smart city AiCT" is an ICT office born in Aizuwakamatsu City in April 2019. There is an advantage that Public University Corporation, University of Aizu is also located in the same area. Therefore, an expectation to collaborations between industry, academia, and government or joint research, even personnel exchanges is growing.

Smart City AiCT

Smart City AiCT was open in Aizuwakamatsu City to create a new flow of people from the Tokyo metro area and employment, to promote permanent settlement of young generations and increase of exchange population, and to contribute to maintaining and developing local vitality through preparing attractive office environment for ICT related companies in the Tokyo metro area and clustering ICT related companies.

Office building

Standard office expecting for ICT companies with a consideration for security and disaster prevention enabling to create a good work environment utilizing features of companies. The environment for open innovation between tenant companies is also prepared.

Community building

A flat building along the Kitademaruodori Street is the community building. The entrance is open for public providing a space not only for workers at the office but for neighbors and tourists to easily stop by.

Terrace

The terrace is prepared between the office building and the community building enabling to provide a space for chatting and communication. The entire office area is handicapped accessible so that everyone can use there safely.

Fukushima Prefecture grants subsidy to businesses that receive an approval for their regional economy leading business plan among ICT companies which have located an office in the prefecture for operation costs or initial costs regarding locating their office in order to promote enhancement of industrial infrastructure, creation of employment and increasing exchange population through ICT related industry clusters. When businesses eligible for initial cost subsidies transfer their head office functions (research, general affairs/accounting departments), the upper limit of the subsidy will be increased to 5 million yen.
